Bourjois 1 Second Nail Polish Remover: Empty-Review

When I completely finish a product, I upload a quick blog post reviewing it.

This is kind of a mixture of an empty and a 'i'm gonna have to get rid', as it's just not working as it used to.

Today I'm throwing out the Bourjois Magic 1 second Nail Polish remover.

This product is I think £5.99 (but I technically got it half price because at the time it was on buy one get one free), and I got it from Superdrug probably around a year to two years ago.

This pot of magic (*not really magic) is a lifesaver and I will never return to the conventional 'cotton pad and nail varnish remover' method after using it. It's basically lined with a thick cushiony material soaked in polish remover which lifts off any nail polish when you put your finger in. I use what I explain as 'the dip and twist' method, where you rub your finger against the cushion as you twist your finger round. 

Does it remove nail polish in 1 second? Not really, and especially not for glitter. But there is no doubt that it is such a time and money saver.

With time, clearly it takes more effort to remove nail polish. Also, as you can see from the picture below, due to me using this hundreds of times before, the polish remover/water inside has become stained, and as a result leaves a purpley line on my finger where I have used the product.

However this mark does wash off after a few hand-washes, and leaves no permanent stain.

The cushiony thing inside is a bit battered now also.

It leaves a slight oil residue on the hands (which dries off though, it just takes a while), and a vanilla/almond scent.

Quick tip: If your tub is drying up a bit, just pour in some nail polish remover to top it up! I've done this and it means it lasts way longer!

There is no doubt in my mind that I will be repurchasing this as soon as I throw it out, as being without this is just not something I want to experience.

Throwing Out: Opia Hair Brush

I'm Gonna Have to Get Rid... Hairbrush from OPIA

I've had this hairbrush for many years now and it's just not of use to me anymore. As you can see it's deteriorated in condition and just doesn't work the same way it used to.

I have two other hairbrushes that I just prefer to use- would a haircare routine interest you guys?

It was from Primark I'm pretty sure, so probably very cheap around the £2 mark, which is great! It was good condition, nothing wrong with it at all.

Opia isn't a brand I've heard much about at all.

Throwing Out: Nail Star Nail Art Pens

I'm Gonna Have to Get Rid... Nail Art Pens from Nail Star

New series I'm doing where basically I do a blog post on items I have decided to throw out due to either lack of use or deciding they're off and not something I can use anymore. Either that or they're just awful products with no better home elsewhere. This is different to empties as those are products I've completely finished up. These are not.

Today I decided to throw out some of these nail art pens. I bought them over 2 years ago from amazon and you can probably find these ones or better still up there for sale. I bought them in a set of about 24 I think, and am throwing these ones away. 

They are either broken or just too gloopy and thick to be of use anymore. I'm not throwing away all of them, because most are still useable.

The texture has become more gloopy and thick now.

They are two way because they have a striper (as shown below) and a pen nib for drawing little details.

I really just don't use nail art pens anymore enough. You can use a toothpick instead and it's just as simple.

The stripers were really bad on these and broke easily or lost hairs.

They come with a thin stick to unplug any caught up polish in the nib, which is great

I probably won't be buying any new nail pens in the future, it's easier just to use normal polish, especially when I have so many.

Throwing Out: Beauty Treats Glitter Palette

I'm Gonna Have to Get Rid... Glitter Palette from Beauty Treats

New series I'm doing where basically I do a blog post on items I have decided to throw out due to either lack of use or deciding they're off and not something I can use anymore. Either that or they're just awful products with no better home elsewhere. This is different to empties as those are products I've completely finished up. These are not.

This is meant to be a glitter eyeshadow (but they're in cream form) palette. It's definitely aimed towards younger experimentation, and not the sort of makeup I practice now.

I recently had a big room-tidy (so nice to do every once in a while) and regrettably decided to throw this out. I've been keeping it mostly as a aesthetic thing (because it looks so pretty), but I just don't use it and it's an awful product so I put it in the bin.

How the cream glitters come out swatched

Sorry, I'm not sure exactly what this product is called. I couldn't find it anywhere online and I got it so so long ago.

It was a present from my mum many years ago. At the time I was like 'wow! this is the best thing ever!' as you are in a childhood way. But now it just never gets used at all.

It's a shame I have to throw this out but it feels good to de-clutter.

Swatched. The texture probably has deteriorated somewhat due to the amount of time I've had it.

The problem with this is that the glitter is only there on the surface, so no matter how nice it looks, you only really get 1-2 uses out of it in the glitter form. What's left is a pale creamy-textured shadow and no glitter.

As pretty as this was to look at, it just wasn't something I was getting any use out of. The quality wasn't quite there.
